Hello, I’m Chris
I’m a flexible soul with a passion for life—and the person behind StrokeNewsletter.net, and The Strokeonaut YouTube Channel. I’m 66 years young and proud to call beautiful New England home.
My Journey
Life hasn’t always gone the way I planned—but it’s taken me exactly where I needed to be. I’m a stroke survivor and an Achalasia warrior, and I know firsthand how unexpected turns can knock the wind out of you. But I also know what it means to get back up—slower, maybe, but with a deeper strength. Recovery isn’t linear, and some days are harder than others. But I’ve learned to move forward with patience, grace, and humor. If my story helps even one person feel less alone, then it’s worth every word I write and every video I share.
My Experience
Okay, so I’m not a doctor—but I did play one in Lady of the Night Birds (1987, Fillmore Regional Theater House)! Jokes aside, I’ve spent years living with—and learning about—stroke and Achalasia. I’ve done the deep dives, asked the hard questions, and lived through the real stuff they don’t always put in the pamphlets. Through my experiences and ongoing research, I’ve developed a real sense of what it’s like to manage these conditions day to day—and I’m here to share what I’ve learned in hopes it can help you too.
My Hobbies & Curiosities
I’ve always been a creative thinker with a curious streak a mile wide. My interests might seem random at first glance—but they all come from a place of love and wonder. I collect balloons (yes, really), recreate airplanes with precision and care, and spend far too much time tinkering with LED lights and custom fonts. I’m also no stranger to the fine art of solving sneaker problems—because hey, when your feet matter, everything else gets better too.
Love for Cats
Through all the hobbies and projects, one constant has been my love for cats. They’ve offered me quiet companionship, warm purrs, and a reason to smile on even the toughest days. There’s just something about a cat curling up beside you that makes the world feel okay, even for a moment.
Come Along for the Ride
Whether you’re here to learn, to heal, or just to connect—I’m really glad you found your way here. There’s room for everyone on this journey. You’ll find stories, resources, laughs, struggles, and maybe a little inspiration too. So let’s keep going—together.
The name Strokeonaut is a fun play on the word astronaut—because just like space explorers, stroke survivors venture into the unknown, facing uncharted challenges with courage, curiosity, and resilience. It felt like the right time for a name that honors that bold journey.
